Volunteer Opportunities
The Student Voluntary Services Database
The SVS Database contains two types of programs: independent and coordinated. For either program type, you should sign up on the database. Students can access the database by going to http://bsu.edu/SVS, clicking "Database" on the right hand side, clicking "register here" and logging in with their BSU username and password.
Searching the Database
"Search for an Opportunity" is very touchy. It is easier to search by one drop down menu so that your choices are not limited. The best way to search is to look through the agency drop down menu." to "...look through the Program Type drop down menu. Another good way to search is the Agency drop down.
Independent Programs
Independent programs require that the volunteers contact the agency they choose, provide their own transportation, and keep a log sheet of their service. The log sheets can be found on the SVS database (bsu.edu/svs) under the link "Forms and Applications." This form will need to be turned into the SVS GA's (SC Rm 136) so that the hours can be logged.
